New Basic Tops by Susana Monaco

susanamonroe.jpg Susana Monaco has come out with a bunch of basics in a bunch of colors. We love them all, so we're going to tell you a bit about each. The Monroe Top is a cross back tank with ruching at the bust and 1 inch banding, and it comes in seven colors. The U Gather Flare comes in six colors, and it's a halter with ruching along the bust and spaghetti straps that tie behind the neck. The Slip Tunic is similar to the Monroe Top but longer. It also has a cross back with ruching at the bust, but this one comes in 11 different colors. If you are interested in a basic tube top, the Tube Flare Tunic is for you. It's just a tube top with a flare bottom and is 19 inches long. It comes in 10 colors. Finally there is the Hudson Tube Top. This one has a gathered detail at the bust and the sides with a flare bottom, and it comes in three colors. There's a lot for you to consider as you think about your summer wardrobes. We are big fans of Susana Monaco, we think all of these tops are great and would compliment just about anyone.

Olivia Criss Cross Top by Ya-Ya

yayaolivia.jpg Here's a really cute top that reminds the Shirt Snob of all those Greek inspired tops from last year. The Olivia Criss Cross by Ya-Ya is a V-neck with dark gray velvet straps that crosses at the bust and ties in either the back or front. These straps are covered with faux-crystal studs as well. There is also a raw bottom hem. We think it's a great spring top because it isn't too fitted. If you still have a few of those winter pounds on your body, you can easily cover them up with this top while still looking sexy and fun.

Randal Top by Diane von Furstenberg

dianerandal.jpg Here in Boston, it's not quite as warm as the Shirt Snob wishes it was. Sure spring is coming, but it's an awfully slow process. What better way to feel like the warm weather is coming sooner than buying a great new top for spring? One of our favorites right now is the Randal Top in yellow (a perfect spring/summer color) by Diane von Furstenberg. This tank is made up of 100% micro modal, and it has two spaghetti straps on each side, ruching at the neck and upper back, and a balloon hem (which is also great for hiding those last few winter pounds you still need to work off!). This top is so cheerful, you could wear it on a rainy day and still feel sunny. Also comes in white.

Zaragoza Spaghetti Top by ingwa; melero

ingwazaragoza.jpg We are so glad our theme today is tank tops. We just found a new one from ingwa; melero, the Zaragoza Spaghetti Top, and we are so excited to show it to you. This 100% silk tank has cross over spaghetti straps, a V-neck, a lined chiffon body, and ruching at the waist. There are also four buttons at the back. On and below the bust, there is embroidery detail in the shape of flowers that is just beautiful. When we see a top like this, the Shirt Snob really wishes she wasn't pregnant anymore so she could buy it, it's just too wonderful! Hopefully it'll still be around in a few months for us.

Wood Tank by Vince

vincewood.jpg Sticking with the idea of having themes each day, today we are going to look at tank tops. Yes, this is an easy one since there are so many new ones out therein everyone's spring collections. But the Shirt Snob is preparing for a weekend away, so we are ok with taking the easy route. After all, you all will need new tanks for the upcoming warmer months, won't you? This first one is great. The Wood Tank by Vince could be worn casually or with something a little more dressy like a cute skirt. There is ruching at the bust line, smocked banding at the back, spaghetti straps, and wooden beading along the bust going into the back. We love the wood beads, it's a little different and fun. Sure you can't throw this into your washing machine because of that, but I'm sure you would be willing to pay a little extra for a dry cleaner so you could wear this top.

Crinkled Silk Georgette by Marc by Marc Jacobs

marcgeorgette.jpgHere's another cute tank top, the Crinkled Silk Georgette by Marc by Marc Jacobs, and it has a few similarities with the previous Rebecca Taylor top. This top is also 100% silk and also has ruffle detail at the neck. Besides that, it has a pleat detail on the front and back and banding at the waist. A hidden zipper is on the side, and the lining is an ivory color that contrasts the black top layer. The great thing about this shirt is you can wear it with almost anything. It'll make a pair of jeans look a little nicer, yet you can always wear it with dressier pants or a skirt. We love tops that work in a variety of situations, you can definitely get your money's worth out of this one.

Beaded Cami by Rebecca Taylor

rtaylorbeaded.jpg Happy Wednesday everyone! Hopefully those of you snowed in like the Shirt Snob has been able to dig yourselves out. We have been having tecnical difficulties in the last few days, but in the meantime, we've found a great top that you will love. It is designed by Rebecca Taylor, who as you know is one of our favorite designers. The Beaded Cami is made of 100% silk and has beaded detail as well as a ruffle at the neckline. There is also pintuck detail at the bust, a surged hem, it's double layered, and it has braided straps (weren't they big on Project Runway a few
weeks ago?). This top is comfy, sexy, and looks incredibly fun to wear. It comes in flamingo, peacock, and driftwood.

JEE Clothing

jeejewel.jpg Sometimes you want a cute top, but you don't want to spend a fortune to get a designer that you know. How do you find a good place to buy though? Well, here's one great place that the Shirt Snob just learned about, JEE, by designer Jee Chang. The online shop is full of a bunch of shirts that we love and would buy if we weren't pregnant. Some of our favorites include the Jewel Neck Tank, another Jewel Neck Tank, yet another Jewel Neck Tank, and these long sleeved tees (which are called Jewel Neck Tanks, which must be a mistake in this instance). Our only beef with the company is that they need to be a little more creative in the names of their clothes.

Dakar Tank by Ella Moss

elladakar.jpg
We don't know how this next top is different than the Helena Tank that we showed you a couple of days ago besides the cool navy combo print. The Dakar Tank by Ella Moss has the same smocked banding at the racer back, twisted straps, a surged bottom hem, and ruching detail with a tie at the bust that the Helena Tank has. Either way, we love the shirt, we want it in both the solid color as well as the print. There's also a skirt, dress, and V-neck with the same print as well as the dress in a different color, flame.

Helena Tank by Ella Moss

ellahelena.jpg Here's something fun for the spring! The Helena Tank in coral by Ella Moss is fun and flirty. This ultra soft tank is made of a modal, pima cotton, and lycra mix. It has a surged bottom hem, a tie and ruching at the bust, and smocked banding at the racer back with twisted straps. You could wear this top with a simple bottom like a nice pair of jeans or the Helena Crop Pant, and you are ready to do almost anything. If you like this top, also consider the Helena Short Sleeve Top, which is just as adorable but covers a bit more of your body. Also comes in clover, flame, and teal.
