Basic Cashmere Sweater Coat by Juicy Couture

Happy Monday readers! We hope you had a great long weekend! Since last week was a casual week, we've decided to make this week a little bit dressier. We are going to write all about cashmere! We'll throw in a few t-shirt and sale updates when we find them, but besides that it's all cashmere!

To start off the week, let's look at the Basic Cashmere Sweater Coat by Juicy Couture. Made of 100% cashmere, this long sweater has five buttons at the front and a tie at the waist. There is ribbed banding at the edges, long sleeves, and a shawl collar. It's available in three colors: dove, carmel, and black.

Long Circle Shrug by Alice + Olivia

This next item reminds the Shirt Snob of an old sweater we own. It was originally our mother's in the 70s, and this sweater reminds us of a modernized version of it. The Long Circle Shrug by Alice + Olivia is 100% cashmere with verticle cables, pockets at the hip, long sleeves, and large banding at the shawl collar and bottom hem and cuffs. It seems just like an update of an old classic, and it's one of our favorites for the winter.

Long-Sleeved Military Sweater Jacket by Banana Republic

As it's getting to be Back to School time, we think it would be appropriate to show you some tops from retailers you all know well, that you can also buy in your local mall. Here is one we really like, the Long-Sleeved Military Sweater Jacket by Banana Republic. This V-neck sweater has three buttons in the front, raw edging throughout, front button-flap pockets, rolled finish at the sleeves and hem, button tabs at the cuffs, epaulets at shoulders, and a notched collar. It is made of a cotton and alpaca mix. We think this would be a great top to wear over your more basic summer wear. Comes in two colors, black and smokey bear brown.

Hand Knit Cable Car Coat by adam eve

Now that it's almost August, it's time to start thinking about Fall and that means sweaters! Here's one that we really like, the Hand Knit Cable Car Coat by adam eve. This sweater is hand knit as the name says. It has cables running down it, ribbed banding at the cuffs and edges, and a shawl collar. It's also made of an alpaca and wool mix, and it comes in black and taupe. Now, the Shirt Snob is a bit of a knitter, so we know that this would take a long time to make by hand. We don't think the pattern looks very easy. Therefore, we feel this sweater is really worth it's price more than most tops we show.

Sweet Blazer by Alice & Olivia

alicesweet.jpg The shirt snob is rather picky when it comes to anything that goes over a shirt. It has to be attractive, simple enough not to distract from our shirts, practical, yet still fashionable and fun. This next item definitely fits all of those demands. The Sweet Blazer by Alice & Olivia certainly is sweet! It is fitted, has double hook and eye closures in the front and 3/4 sleeves. But what we love about it is the leather! Two inch trim goes along all the hems as well as all along the waist. This gives it a nice edge while still keeping it's clean lines and finished look. This is one item that we really want right now.

Ray Plaid Sweater by Marc Jacobs

marcplaid.jpg Here's a great sweater designed by Marc by Marc Jacobs, the Ray Plaid Sweater. It's sort of a combo between a sweater and a jacket, but no matter what you call it, this top is stunning. The top is knit with 100% wool, with a two button closure in the front, flap pockets to each side, and a 7 inch slit at the back. What we love is the trim, in a bright pink plaid along the front, pockets, and cuffs, which truly makes this coat, and you in it, stand out. The trim is made of a wool, nylon, and cashmere mix, and we think this sweater will truly keep you warm this winter. It's certainly one of the Shirt Snob's favorites, if only our pregnant belly would fit into it!

Herringbone Jacket by Kween

kweenjacket.jpg The Shirt Snob is a big fan of Kween. The designs are different than everything else out there, very vintage inspired. The Herringbone Jacket has a gold antiqued button at the front, sleeves that come to the elbows, and a longer, pleated back. There is also an almost identical Leopard Jacket with a black button instead of the gold. You can wear these jackets on their own or with a cute cami or tank underneath.

Accessory Friday-True Religion Vests

truereligionvests.jpg Now that it's starting to get a little cooler in much of the country, many of you are probably now wondering what you want to be wearing to stay warm. It seems a little early for coats, so why not try a vest? True Religion has three that the Shirt Snob loves, hopefully you will think they're as great as we do. The first one is the Butterfly Vest, with butterfly details on the front and floral screen detail on the back. There is also corduroy on the shoulders, collar, and front pockets. The Star Vest says "Soul Fulfillment" on the front and "Freedom" on the back. It also has patch detailing on the pockets and corduroy at the collar. The third is the Flower Vest which has patch and bead flower detailing at the front and sequin detailing throughout. There is also corduroy on the shoulders and collar, geometric graphics throughout, and patch pockets in the front. All three vests have 100% polyester padding, 100% cotton trim, and 100% nylon shell and lining.

Accessory Friday-Diane von Furstenberg Jackets

dvfjacket1.jpg In this week's Accessory Friday, we are looking at one of the best accessories to a shirt, the jacket! A jacket can be a great compliment to a top, not just a means to warm up or to cover up what you are wearing. Here are two of our recent favorite finds, both made by Diane von Furstenberg. The Zebra Jacket in Allspice is wonderful because it is so practical yet so beautiful. It has 5 buttons in the front, a belt that ties in front, and flap patch pockets at the bust and waist. It is form fitting enough to allow you to keep your shape (we hate bulky coats unless it's 10 degrees out), and the rusty red color, 3/4 length sleeves, and the plaid make this jacket a natural choice for the fall.

dvfjacket2.jpg Our other much adored jacket find is the Jemma Jacket, also in Allspice, although this allspice is a very different color from the other. There is a single button in front, a sewn in belt in the back, ruching at the shoulders, piping along the seams, and a collar. The inside is also lined with 100% silk. The red color is outstanding and what makes us crave this coat, and with the softness of the velour, there isn't a more romantic jacket out there.
