The Shirt Snob is a huge fan of Lauren Moffatt. All her clothes are so feminine and pretty, yet still quite practical and easy to wear. Today's blouse, the Silk Jersey Bead Empire Top, is no exception. It has a V-neck, ruching at the waist and 3/4 sleeves with elastic banding. There is 2 inch banding that goes around the empire waist as well as braided piping detail at the neck and waist. The print is cute too, with little white spots scattered all over the place, like a snowstorm against a lavender background.

This next top is very sexy, but it could easy become skanky if you aren't careful. the Grecian Top by LaROK has a very deep cowl neck that is stopped by banding at the bust. However, the opening continues below this banding, so if the top doesn't fit well, you will be exposing a large area of your stomach if you aren't careful. There is also ruching at the back, a tie behind the neck, and pintuck detail at the shoulders. The sleeves are 3/4 length and flowing, and the bottom hem is surged. Overall, this top certainly lives up to it's name, looking very similar to the gowns we all think of when we imagine the ancient Greeks. And we all know that Greek inspired tops have been big recently, such as the Athena by Foley + Corrina and the Grecian Tunic by Twelfth St. Besides taxi (which we really like as there are few tops in this mustard color), this top comes in punk pink, heather grey, first snow, light heather, black, white, bronze, pollen, and faded seafoam.

Here is a top that we’ve shown before, but it has a new print to go with it, so it deserves notice again. The V Gather Tie in emerald by Susana Monaco is a fun and laid back shirt that is great for fall. It has a V-neck, baby doll waistline that comes together in a tie at the center as well as ties at the ends of the 3/4 length sleeves and in the back, with the back also having a peek-a-boo opening. The same material for the ties also is around the neckline, and this feature really makes the shirt look sweet and innocent, almost romantic. The Shirt Snob loves this look as well as the print, it's so girly and fun, just as the cactus version was.

This next top is so beautiful and feminine, we want to run out and buy it right now (if only the pregnant belly wasn't so big!). The Sweet Cap Sleeve Top by Lotta Stensson claims to be the perfect top for your bust-it holds it perfectly and is flattering for all different sizes. This is one area that women never want to look bad, so this is very important! The neckline is low and the front flutters down in a cascade of layered silk. The bust and back also have smocking, there are raw-edge ruffle details at the sleeves, and the hem is longer in the front than the back. The cap sleeves are also made of silk and are semi-see through.

Here's another great Nanette Lapore blouse, the Naughty Girl Top. We don't have much information on this top, but it looks like it may be silk, it has black lace detail at the neckline, which is a V-neck, and there's a little white bow right at the bust. We really like the black and white contrast as we did in the last shirt. The black lace gives it a little bit of a edge, so it is a toss up whether the person wearing it is naughty or nice. And the Shirt Snob loves to keep everyone guessing!
Last week, Ellen had a person in her audience who bought a Nanette Lapore top for the show, and Ellen called her husband to break the news. The top was beautiful, but we haven't been able to find it online as of yet. So instead, we are making today Nanette Lapore day! The first top is the Fantasia Top, which has ruffles around the top of the bust and sleeves with a black stripe, is fitted, and honestly, it makes the bust area look great. But really, we love the black and white of the top, it's contrasts so nicely. And the design, we can't tell if it's dogs or deer or what, but it's so cute and fun. If, as it says on the website, you aren't afraid to be a little whimsical, this is the top for you!

The Shirt Snob has found a Greek inspired top, and since we haven't showcased one for a few weeks now at least, we thought we had to show it to you. The Ginger Top by Zola is ancient Greek meets the disco 1970s-it's flashy and fun. Along the empire waist there is a band of gold sequins which truly sets this piece apart from the rest. Besides that, there is a crisscross bodice, wide sheer straps edged with gold threading, cylon lining, and a hidden zipper. You can wear this dressed up or dressed down, but either way you'll look like a goddess.

Although the Shirt Snob isn’t a big fan of the next shirt’s name (why ditsy?), we still love the top. The Ditsy Babydoll Cap Sleeve by Free People (yes, we love the company right now) has cap-sleeves, ties in the back and has lace on the sleeves, top, and on the sides of the little jacket addition, which is really a part of the top. There is also a slight ruching on the bust. What we really love about this top is the floral print. These types of prints are about to be big, and this one is certainly one of the cutest ones we've seen in a while now. One thing we also love about Free People is that they have tons of great clothes at very reasonable prices, so check out the website. If you like this top, you'd probably also like the Lacey Silk Babydoll, which looks almost identical to the Ditsy Babydoll Cap Sleeve but in a single color (bisque ivory or vamp red) and obviously silk.

Labor Day has come and gone, the air is cooler, the kids are back in school, and no longer can we wear white shoes. In the mind of the Shirt Snob, this is the true sign of fall. Nevermind that we still have a few weeks before the season officially starts, it feels like fall, so that is how we will proceed. We have found a great shirt to kick off the season, Lauren Moffatt's Crinkle Metallic Stripe Top. This shirt has 3 inch banding that goes around the waist and ties in the back and 2 inch banding at the neck with contrast trim and gold discs. There is a single button at each cuff and a hidden zipper on the side. The most obvious part of this top is definitely the crinkled nature of the cotton, which is also sparkly with the metalic stripes in it. A very fun and feminine top, and a great look for fall.

Fashion Telegraph has a great article on Victoriana blouses, including how to choose one and the dos and don'ts. If you like the lacy and elegant look, definitely check out what they say. Also check out their site for lots of other great fashion tips. Other current articles include the 10 best velvet jackets and autumn trends. The site is based in the UK however, so prices and where to buy the items may not be true in the states.
