We discovered Festa Stuff via SheFinds (a great blog you should all check out). We figured they were the usual t-shirt company that has area specific stuff that we often come across. But Festa Stuff is different. First, they seem to have tons and tons of areas. Second, they aren't crude or super witty, just fun and festive. The ones that fit the Shirt Snob include Rhode Island (where the Shirt Snob was born and raised!), a New England tee, a Fenway tee (Red Sox for those of you that don't know), an East Coast tee, and one for Boston. They even have a Sorority Girl shirt that doesn't put us down with stereotypes! We wish we had found Festa Stuff sooner, we think they're great!

This next top looks so warm and cozy, we want it right now! The Reverse Jersey Tie Waist Cardigan by Lily McNeal is the perfect sweater to throw over your favorite tee. It hangs past the hip, has a hood, a tie at the waist, two pockets in the front, and long sleeves. Comes in two colors: rose and tan. If you like this sweater, you may like the very similar Striped Beach Cardigan as well.

We know some schools are already back in session, but where we are they don't start until after Labor Day, so on we go with our Back to School options. Here are two options from Urban Outfitters, the Soundgirl Western Plaid Button Down and the Lux Peter Pan Collar Top. We know the plaid shirt may not be everyone's taste, but at this time of year the Shirt Snob just can't help herself. The air is getting cooler, and along with craving apples, falling leaves, and Halloween costumes, we crave plaid. This top has buttons going down the front, a bit of metallic thread woven into the plaid, a lace trimmed placket, three button cuffs, and pintucked shoulders. It runs a bit on the small side too, so keep that in mind.
The Lux Peter Pan Collar Top is semi-sheerwith tonal stripes, a rounded collar, double button placket, and slightly puffed sleeves. It comes in three colors: pale dirty rose, ivory, and olive. We like it because you can wear it with a pair of jeans or a nice skirt to dress it up a bit, and you'll always stand out with the collar.
August 30, 2006
New tees are out at Threadless again. We like Fake Pandas Have More Fun, Recycling, Poet-Trees, and the reprints The Communist Party and Dark Side of the Garden. Also, take a survey and you will be entered to win a free 12 Club Subscription. That means 12 new tees that aren't available for individual purchase over the course of a year. Pretty nice deal for only a few minutes of your time.
August 29, 2006
You can get 25% off everything at Fred Flare. This sale ends Friday, August 31 at midnight. Use the code "Fredfan.080" at check out for the sale to apply to your order.
Let's make today a Joie day! This next blouse would be great for work under a nice suit. The Angel Drawstring Blouse has a ruffled collar, buttons going down the front, ruffles on the front, a drawstring around the waist, and 3/4 length sleeves. It comes in three colors: chalk, pecan, and caviar.
The Shirt Snob finds this next blouse, Carbon by Joie, to be very pretty and feminine. It is a semi-sheer cotton and silk blend with lace around the V-neck, raw edges, short sleeves, ruching at the bust, and a wrap tie. We love how delicate it looks, and we think it would be a great top to wear in many situations, either dressed up or down.

Busted Tees is celebrating Back to School time with free shipping! Buy three or more tees, use the code "MUFFIN," and you'll get free shipping on your order.
We really like this new one from Ella Moss, the Greta Wrap Tunic. It hangs past the hips, has contrast banding along the neck and bottom hem, a string to tie the wrap, and short sleeves. It comes in three colors: wedgewood, black, and forest. Wear it to the beach or just around town. Either way, you'll be super comfortable in it!
Happy Monday readers! We are going to start your week off right with this beauty from Catherine Malandrino. The Embroidered Top is a silk and cotton mix (with 100% silk lining) with a V-neck, pleated chiffon waist, ten buttons going down the front, short sleeves, and embroidery on the mesh bodice. We just love this blouse, it looks so fun to wear and very flattering.
August 25, 2006
Let's move away from our usual jewelry and handbags for this week's Accessory Friday. Instead, let's look at hair accessories, specifically those from Jane Tran. We first noticed this beautiful Hair Comb, which we think would look great as a bride's hair piece. From there, we discovered many other great items, such as the Flower Spray Pin in coral and carnelian and citrine, the Shell Flower Barette, and the Flower Hair Pin. You can find many other great hair pieces on her website, some super expensive and some very affordable.
You all know how much we love owls right now. So the Shirt Snob has decided to show you the new owl items at Fred Flare in case you have the same obsessioin. Right now there's owl earrings, an owl necklace, the Pink Owl Henley, and what we're probably going to get, the Hoot Hoot Thermal.
August 24, 2006
As we told you earlier, we recently received two shirts from 19 23, whom we wrote about last month, to review. They are the Best Friends tees, resembling the charms many girls give each other when they are young. They are cute, and we really like the colors pink and brown together.
The fit is a little tight. We don't remember what size we received, and we can't find a tag in the shirt to tell us, so we don't know if it's tight because it's a medium or if it's a large and on the small side. Either way, it's best for women with longer torsos we think. We also don't know what the shirt is made out of exactly, but it feels like your regular t-shirt. Since we don't have the tag, we also don't know what the shirt is made out of exactly or how to wash it.
Each shirt has a message on the inside that spouts the company's philosophy. The one in the tees we got is "When I am old, you will be older. We will have to determine where our loyalties lie. And if our friendship doesn't work out, we'll bury our charms in the dirt by the big maple tree." The Shirt Snob isn't exactly sure what this philosophy means, but the second sentence sounds like a Harry Potter quote to us, so we like it!
Besides women's shirts, they also sell men's tees.
There are new tees available at Miele Fresca for fall. You may remember we wrote about them last April for the first time. Our favorites are Lady Octopus, and Miss Owl (obviously). They are also having a sale on all their 2005 tees, including a very similar Owl, Night Plume, and Bird on a Wire.
The Shirt Snob found when we were in school, it was nice to have a good staple in many different colors. Here is one example, the Gateway Cable V Sweater by American Eagle. This sweater has a V-neck, cable detailing, is ribbed on the neck, bottom hem, and cuffs, and has their signature logo on the chest. It's simple, so when you don't want to think about what you're wearing to class but what to look presentable (i.e., not an oversized sweatshirt!), it's great to have on hand. And it comes in 11 colors, so you're bound to find a few that work for you.
August 23, 2006
This sweater is nothing super special, but it looks awfully cosy and warm, and we think it'd be great for the fall. The Holding Out Sweater by Joie is made of a cashmere and wool blend. It has a ribbed shawl collar, cable detailing throughout, large ribbed bottom hem, and four buttons down the front. Comes in two colors: heather grey and pecan.
Another t-shirt company is Concrete Hermit. They have a few women's tees, and we really like Monkey Brains and Loaded Wings. This company is across the pond though, so if you're in the US, you'll probably be paying a lot in shipping. But we know that is no matter if you really like a shirt! Concrete Hermit also sells men's tees, pins, and books.
August 22, 2006
New tees at Threadless today. Our favorite is definitely Mapple vs apy. We feel like we should like Goodbye My Hopes and Dreams..., but honesty, it's a little creepy when you look closely. We also like Sticks of Shame and Mob Musicians, although we aren't sure we'd actually wear either one ourselves.
Oddica has hoodies now! They are in a variety of prints, including our much beloved Tape Bird and Sheltered 2. They are all unisex, so buy the next size down. For instance, if you are normally a medium, buy the small.
For our second work blouse today, we really like the Astaire Top by Diane von Furstenberg. This 100% silk top is semi-sheer, has a tie at the neck, eight button closure, ruffle detail, ruching at the shoulders, cap sleeves, and triple darting detail at the front and back. What really makes it interesting is the print. You can take a boring black suit, pair it with this blouse, and you'll shine! Or pair it with a matching skirt instead.
Let's focus on blouses to wear to work today (besides the updates we just found out about from Threadless and Oddica that we'll shortly be posting). We really like the Cap Sleeve Tie Back Blouse by Sunner. This top has ruffle trim down the front and at the bottom hem in the back. There is also ruching at the natural waist, one inch banding at the waist that ties in the back, layer detail at the sleeves, and eight buttons going down the front. It comes in three colors, petal, shadow, navy, and white striped. Although one could dress it down, we think it'd look great when going into the office, a great way to spice up an old suit.
August 21, 2006
It seems like almost everything at FCUK is on sale right now. You may want to check them out if you're interested in some great deals. Some of our favorites include the Primrose Top, the Belinda Tunic, the Cocktail Top, and the Carrie Boat Knit.
We recently discovered Teetsy, a t-shirt company, and they have some cute tees we thought we'd show you. We really like Songbird, Squidlove, and Skully. Besides women's tees, they also sell men's tees and prints and they have their own blog.
Happy Monday readers! The Shirt Snob has finally gotten over our mini vacation, so we are back to full speed on this blog! We're going to start the week with one of our favorite designers, Catherine Malandrino. We found the cutest tank top that we have to show you all, the Laser Leaf Cut Sheer Babydoll. What really makes this top is the laser cut feature along neckline, hem, waist and as straps and sash (which ties in the back) in a heart shaped pattern. The waist is open where this design is located as well. There is ruching at the bust and below the waist, the bottom hem is uneven, and it is made of 100% silk with 100% cotton contrasts. It comes in two colors, soy and caspian, as well as the Laser Leaf Cut Dress. It is also very similar to the the Laser Leaf Cut V Top (aka the Chantico Embroidered Blouse), which we showed you last month.
August 17, 2006
All orders placed by midnight on Monday, August 21 will have free ground shipping at Olive and Bette's. This includes for all of their new fall items!
So the Shirt Snob isn't being very snobby today. We really like a lot of the new shirts at Threadless. This includes Water Tower, Some College Somewhere, Myopia Utopia, A is for Jerks! (which we think works great as a kid's shirt), and the reprints 99 Luftballons and Flowers in the Attic. Their sale is still going on too. How can you not buy a bunch of they are all only $10? We're stocking up for our holiday presents with this sale!
August 16, 2006
Pink Mascara is having their end of summer sale. Now is the last time to get up to 70% off selected merchandise!
In honor of their new website design, you can get 20% off at Shop Rapunzels by using the code "Fallstyles." This deal lasts until August 31.
August 15, 2006
When we first saw the Long Sleeve Mixed Pointelle Sweater by Catherine Malandrino, we thought we had seen it before. Turns out, it's very similar to the Open Knit Twist Front Cami we showed you last June. The knit sweater is made of 100% baby alpaca, so it's very soft. It has an empire waist, crossover bust with two inch banding and pleat detailing, and pointelle detailing throughout. It is semi-sheer and lined at the bust and has long sleeves. It also comes in three colors: noir, pearl, and rosewood.
August 14, 2006
We had a feeling that Threadless would have another sale soon. Their Back to School sale just started, ends in the morning on August 21, and each tee is $10. Remember that their tees sell out fast, sometimes while you are filling your shopping cart, so make sure if you want something specific you get over there soon.
Out of the six new tees, we like Fossil Fuel, M for Monkey, and the reprint The Fast Supper.
The winner of the Threadless Loves Threadless contest is Psychedelic Peacock. There's also a new contest with Hellogoodbye with the theme "Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!"
Threadless is going to have another six tees come out tomorrow and Wednesday, so look for more great tees later this week!
This top is really fun, so even though you may not get a ton of use out of it with fall coming (unless you're lucky and live in a warmer area than the Shirt Snob), we decided we had to show it to you. The Halter with Natural Wooden Beads by Who Cares is made of 100% silk. There is smocked banding at the waist, small bow details where the necklace hits the blouse, and the wooden beads, which have a clasp in the back, act as the tie keeping the top on. The necklace can also be worn separately. Besides brown, it also comes in red with navy beads. While you're looking at this halter, also check out the vendor, Rapunzel's Closet. They have a great new look to their website!
Happy Monday readers! We found a cute hoodie at Fossil, and we think it'd be great for a back to school top. The Crystal shirt is short sleeved, has six buttons at the neck, and a hood. There is also contrast banding along the cuffs and neck. It comes in four colors: pearl, shaded indigo, cinnamon, and henna.
August 11, 2006
This week for Accessory Friday, we are showcasing Adorneya. They sell bags, greeting cards, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and Awareness Jewelry, in which a portion of the proceeds go towards the cause the jewelry represents. Although it's very hard to choose, we really like the Faceted Apatite and Peridot Choker, the Gold Filigree and Rhodonite Earrings, the Amazonite Earrings with Delicate Chain, and the Yellow Floral Wristlet. The best part is that everything is very reasonably priced, we don't believe anything is over (or even that close to) $100. Also check out the designer's blog too!
Iron-On Resistance is an independent t-shirt company. They seem really into the art, and the tees reflect that. Regardless of their name, they screen-printed their tees. Our favorites are Ornament Head, Garden Tank, and Punk Girl (which we realize is a departure for us, but we really do like it). They also sell men's tees, handbags and wallets, prints, and pins.
August 10, 2006
Here's a great sweater for the fall from the Gap. The Shawl Cardigan is made from a blend of cotton, wool, and alpaca. It has a shawl collar, long sleeves, three wooden buttons up the front, two mini patch pockets on the front, elbow patches, and ribbed trim along the bottom hem and cuffs. It's available in two colors, heather grey and snow patch, and it's also available in tall and petite sizes too.
70 Star 7 is a company whose mission is to "see the world positively impacted by giving to charities and our individual communities using creativity as the platform." They do this through shirts, shoes, skateboards, and other items that artists can use and mark up. Right now they have a few t-shirts for sale with 50% of the proceeds going directly to charities, a different one for each tee. More of the proceeds go to someone the artist knows who is in need in his own community. Unfortunately, the company only seem to sell men's tees. Since it's for charity, we thought we'd tell you about them anyway, but hopefully in the future they'll remember us women!
August 9, 2006
Now, the Shirt Snob isn't too sure we love bubble skirts, but we really like the Bubble Tank by Generra. We know it's a little late in the season to be buying tons more tanks, but this one is simple and yet different, thanks to the ruching at the neck and sides that causes the entire tank to have folds of fabric. The spaghetti straps are adjustable, and it also has a balloon bottom hem. It comes in three colors, amethyst, sable, and black.
We know that when the big book of New Yorker cartoons came out a year and a half ago, everyone was buying it up like mad. So there must be a market for New Yorker cartoon tees! Each tee is a cotton and rayon blend and has slightly tapered side seams. If you're a fan of these cartoons or know someone who is, they might be for you. The Shirt Snob is probably going to get one for her mother.
August 8, 2006
There are four new tees at Oddica. We really like Blackbird Migrane (which we thought we'dseen already?) and Wax On, Wax Off the best.
Right now there's a $9.99 sale on t-shirts over at Fred Flare. We don't know how long it lasts, so get over there before it's over!
Maybe the Shirt Snob is just in a generally happy mood today, but we really like all of Threadless's new tees this week. Maybe it's because the Shirt Snob baby is sleeping for a change, and we are a little more generous than usual. No matter the reason, the new tees are Monster Wash, Adultery, Hooray Cholesterol!, Overcoming Childhood Fears (and yes, this is certainly a Shirt Snob fear), and Infinity MPG. We also love the reprint Ambition Killed the Cat.
Let's make today a wrap day. This next top is a beauty, the Wrap Top with Mesh Balloon Sleeve by Catherine Malandrino. Made of 100% cotton, this blouse is ribbed with three inch banding and a tie at the waist. Two inch banding is at the cuffs, and there is contrast mesh and pin tucking at the 3/4 length balloon sleeves. Tiny pleat detailing is also below the banding at the waist. We really love the color too.
Here's a cute one for fall. The Cashcouer Sweater by Maria Bonita Extra is a wrap sweater. It has a tie at the waist, a V-neck, white trim at the front edges and the ties, and slightly puffy short sleeves. It's simple and elegant, a perfect top to wear when you want to dress up a bit.
August 7, 2006
Remember how we wrote about 19 23 last month? Well, they were kind enough to send us two shirts for review. Unfortunately, the Shirt Snob is about to go on vacation and won't get a chance to review them until we get back. But we wanted to tell you all that it's coming up, and we're super excited about it. Look for the review hopefully next week!
If we're being totally honest, we probably love this next shirt because it reminds us of our favorite top when we were very very pregnant. Obviously it's not the same, there is no place for a huge belly. But we can't help but love this one since it's so similar. The Hillock Scoopneck by Anthropologie has ruching at the empire waist and the shoulders, a scoop neck, half sleeves, and banding at the neck and bottom hem. Comes in three colors, bistro green, mink, and rhubard.
Happy Monday readers! Let's start the week off with something a little unusual, the Crush Wrap Colar Sweatshirt by LOVE from Ya-Ya. We don't think that it looks like a sweatshirt, but it's super cute. It's a soft fleece with a cross over V-neck, four inch ribbed collar, ribbed banding at the bottom hem and cuffs, long sleeves, and a pouch pocket at the front. It's definitely different looking, and we think it's a lot of fun. A great one to pull over your favorite cami this fall.

There's a huge sale going on over at Teetonic right now. All of their tees are 25% off in the month of August, and with every fifth order they are giving away a Monster Tee. This would be a great time to shop at Teetonic without worrying about the cost of shipping from overseas since the sale should more or less make up for that. So if you liked that Night Owl shirt I reviewed last week, get over there!
August 4, 2006
All T Luxury is 20% off at Pink Mascara this weekend only when using the code"."TLUX20 They are also still having their regular sale of up to 75% off select brands.
A friend recently pointed us in the direction of Jill Serra, and we thought you might be interested as well. She makes tote bags, two of which have been shown in major magazines. There are four in total, the Misha Tote, the Salome Tote, the Birdgirl Tote (our favorite), and the Flora Tote. Each is only $35 and all are hand-made. She also sells art prints. Unfortunately, the site is set up so we can't link to individual items, but each is easy to find.
We discovered the Betty Tee by Rebe recently, and we just love it. The contrast of the orange shirt with the pink and blue flowers on the right side really caught our eye. We think this tee is so cute and fun, perfect for summer. Since we loved this tee so much, we decided to look into Rebe a bit more. It turns out they also has a bunch of other cute tops, such as the Nancy Tee, Burgundy Dalila Sweatshirt, the Zoe Tank, and the Evie Tee. Rebe also makes a ton of accessories (we love the leather tote!) and kids clothing too. Check out the sale items, there's a ton there as well. We are really glad that we've discovered Rebe, we only wish it had been sooner!

Shop Bop is having their end of season sale. You can get up to 70% off of Spring and Summer merchandise. There's a huge amount of great items on sale, including the Kuta Cami we wrote about in June.
Ok, we admit it. We are having a bit of a Rebecca Taylor obsession this week. We can't help it though, she makes too many great tops! This one, the Voile Long Sleeve Top, is so beautiful we can't help but gush over it. The blouse is 100% cotton, semi-sheer, and it has a V-neck, pintuckign and lace trim at the neck, smocked banding at the front, three buttons at the bust, lace trim at the bottom hem, and ruching and a chiffon tie at the back. It's very feminine and very elegant, we just can't get enough of it.
Bedlam Clothing is another t-shirt company that caters to the college and early 20s crowd. A few of their tees are a little raunchy for the Shirt Snob (who is beginning to wonder if we've become a little too conservative now that we've become a mother), but there are a bunch that we like. Unfortunately, some of those are sold out though. Our favorite of the ones still available include Ghoste and Ol Skool (for the video game geek in us) and One Love One Heart. All their tees still available are $10 as they make room for new tees soon. They also sell men's tees, and they are all printed on American Apparel.
August 2, 2006
We really love the contrasting colors of this next top the Cami in Jersey with Crinkle Chiffon in dusty by Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent. This soft cami has an empire waist with smocked banding, chiffon trim at the V-neck and bottom hems, and adjustable spaghetti straps. It also comes in grey, but the contrast of the chiffon and the rest of the cami isn't quite as great.
As it's getting to be Back to School time, we think it would be appropriate to show you some tops from retailers you all know well, that you can also buy in your local mall. Here is one we really like, the Long-Sleeved Military Sweater Jacket by Banana Republic. This V-neck sweater has three buttons in the front, raw edging throughout, front button-flap pockets, rolled finish at the sleeves and hem, button tabs at the cuffs, epaulets at shoulders, and a notched collar. It is made of a cotton and alpaca mix. We think this would be a great top to wear over your more basic summer wear. Comes in two colors, black and smokey bear brown.
As usual, there's new stuff at Threadless. Our favorites are My Green Forest, Lonesome George looks for a Wife, Poetic Irony (even if it is a little creepy), the reprint Russell! Hows yer Ma! (probably because of a good friend Russell), and the reprint Time Fades.
Oddica now has tank tops! There are three currently, Tape Bird Tank, Bat Tank, Exploded Boombox Tank. More designs are also coming this Monday.
Spend $200 or more at Shop Rapunzels and get free shipping. This deal lasts for the entire month of August! They still have a bunch on sale too.
August 1, 2006
This next top is a little simple, but we think it'd go great with a nice suit. The Pearl Mercerized Jersey Short Sleeve Top by Marc by Marc Jacobs is 100% cotton and semi-sheer. There is crossover yoke detail at the neck and back, ruching at the shoulders and below the yoke, rounded hem at the bottom, and a tie at the cuffs (which is our favorite detail).
There are some really pretty floral tank tops by Rebecca Taylor that we really want to show you all. The first is the Gathered Cami in Aegean Sea. This top is 100% silk with a 100% silk lining. It has ruching at the bust, bows at the straps and at the bust, and rough edges along the bust and straps.
Next is the Wrap Flower Printed Chiffon Cami. This tank is also 100% silk and is lined. It has a tie at the bust, pointelle detailing at the V-neck, smocking at the back, and ruffle trim along the spaghetti straps.
Finally there is the Sexy Cami in Sunkissed. This tank has lace detailing along the V-neck and at the bust, a small bit of ruching at the bust, adjustable spaghetti straps, and smocking at the back. And it's also 100% silk as well and lined.
